Remodelling of Listed House, South Downs National Park
Like many historic homes in the South Downs National Park, this Grade II Listed house is a fascinating mix of original 1700s downland cottage with various modifications and remodelling having been undertaken over the 300 years of this building’s life. The most significant being a stunning 1930 extension on the rear of the property.
JWA was commissioned to seek planning approval and design a complete refurbishment scheme for this house. The team restored the original integrity of the 1930s double height sun room by removing a poorly inserted floor. Restoration of the older parts of the property were carefully considered to ensure the history of the building is clearly legible and the consolidation of areas in a poor state of repair will secure the future of the property as a much loved home for the new owners.
This small C18 curtilage listed farm store was repurposed as a photographic studio along with the adjacent Victorian stable which was simultaneously redesigned…
