Experienced Residential Architects

JWA was established in 1995 by James Wells, who has over 30 years’ experience working with private and niche developer clients. From the initial design stage through to completion of the works on site, our team of residential architects are artistically accomplished and practical in their skill applications.

We are deeply experienced in creating beautiful new homes, extending and remodelling existing properties and converting rural buildings for domestic use.

Our award winning architects produce beautiful residential designs for all types of location, whether it be in a city centre, National Park, Conservation Area or Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Our team has considerable experience in town planning, listed building consent applications and conservation of buildings, as well as interior design.

We are committed to considering the detailed requirements of all our clients, with our guiding principle being to design buildings which complement and enhance their locations, paying attention to the immediate environment, landscape and history of the locality – while carefully considering all opportunities of the site itself.

An integral part of this residential design approach is our pledge to sustainability from design and detailing of the construction, specification of the materials, to the servicing of the buildings we create.

Our Founder James pledges that we aim to design buildings which respect the environment whilst most importantly working superbly well for our clients. We are adept at integrating new architectural technologies, materials and features into the fabric of significant historic buildings.

Based in central London from 1995, James moved our architecture practice to Chichester in West Sussex in 2016.
