Hampshire Architects

Looking for an experienced Hampshire Architect firm?

With offices based in Chichester, our Hampshire architects are well placed to cover Hampshire and have specific design experience of working in the South Downs National Park which stretches from Hampshire, into East Sussex. The county of Hampshire has an amazing collection of stunning towns and villages, steeped in history and set in beautiful countryside. From the fascinating homes of Jane Austen and Gilbert White in the north of the county to the refined National Trust’s Hinter Ampner House in the South Downs and the numerous historic, listed buildings in Winchester – Hampshire is certainly one of the best locations to live in the UK.

Award Winning Hampshire Residential Architects

James Wells Architects is an award winning RIBA chartered practice specialising in creating beautiful homes in Hampshire with that rare ‘feel good’ factor. James has designed two new build houses for his own family Beach House, West Sussex and redesigned a new house in South Downs National Park. Both of these Hampshire projects were created to work to a specific budget and within tight restrictions from the local planning authorities. The beach house won a Design and Sustainability Award from WSCC as well as a commendation from The Civic Trust. New House in the SDNP won a Sussex Heritage Trust Award in 2016.

Experienced Architects in Hampshire

Our Hampshire architects have a wealth of expertise in designing homes. Our clients come to us if they have a listed building, are looking for a barn conversion or are wanting to build a completely new home as a replacement dwelling. James and his team of Hampshire architects are adept at all these challenges and we have a track record of refurbishing, refreshing and building new homes.

There are many benefits to building a new home in Hampshire. The first is that you do not pay VAT on the builders invoices so for the same square footage a new build can cost less than an extensive refurbishment. The second is that a new build home in compliance with modern standards will be vastly more energy efficient than a property dating from even 1990. With better insulation, double or triple glazed windows a new home will be much less costly to run. Many of our Hampshire clients are now choosing a ground or air source heat pump which reduces reliance on oil or gas fired central heating.

Book A Meeting For Your Hampshire Project

If you would like to discuss your residential project with our Hampshire Architects, the first meeting with James is free of charge. After this first meeting James will email a proposal of how he suggests progressing your project.

Once appointed, James will consider your brief carefully, work through a number of solutions and judge which might be best to develop, draw up and test first responses. After that thinking, our Hampshire architects will then draw up a scheme to communicate potential solutions to the client in order to judge their response.  This is just the first step, but it is key to getting the rest of the process right.  You are about to invest possibly hundreds of thousands and it is essential to get the basics right before spending more time.
