The brief for JWA for this New Development St James’s project was to replace two poorly set out flats arranged over garages and a redundant electricity sub-station. The St James development is for two terrace houses arranged over a newly created basement, with ground and two upper floors rebuilt above. Several energy saving features were incorporated into the design including PV panels and a Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery installation. Each house comes with a secure garage space.
The scheme, set in the context of the mixed-use commercial and domestic London mews, adopts a simple brick form with carefully proportioned windows and façade. Natural light is a premium in this location, thus great care has been given to roof lights as well as boosting the outline of façade windows.
New Development St James’s project was completed in Spring 2022 for the rental market.
